Utah Has Joined, but Is Not Live
Compact status checked 2026-10-08 against counselingcompact.gov
Utah has enacted the Counseling Compact (March 24, 2022), but it is not issuing or accepting privileges yet. Each member state has to finish its own setup, including FBI fingerprint authority, before it goes live. Until it does, practicing in Utah takes a full Utah license, and holding a Utah license does not yet give you a privilege anywhere else.
Compact status moves: states go live on their own schedules, and ten were issuing privileges in October 2026 against forty members. This page reflects our last check, not a live feed, so confirm a state's status before relying on it.

What Catches Counselors Out
Enacted is not live. Clients located here still need you to hold the full license until the state starts issuing privileges
Need to see Utah clients now? That takes the CMHC, and we file it end to end.
Endorsement or full application, verifications from your other boards, supervisor attestations, and board follow-up until it issues.
